Academic Writing

Let’s Talk Academic Writing

Academic writing is one of the hardest skills to master. You need an above-average grasp of the English language. You also need the ability to conceptualize issues and then put them down in writing.

Here are the key requirements for becoming a good academic writer.

1. A university/college graduate or a continuing student – Most institutions of higher learning teach research writing and other analytical skills. As such, anyone in this category can easily work on an academic paper. However, from experience, a good number of people in this category also need some training.

2. Must have scored above average in English at the college level. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. It’s an impossible task to teach an adult, grammar basics. These are skills that are best mastered from childhood.

3. A graduate with an above average in English. In theory, anyone can learn new skills, but the reality is a little different.

If one had a hard time organizing ideas logically in high school English literature, chances are that they will struggle to write good academic papers. If you meet the above criteria, then you can move to the next step.
